The Lake George Forum
Statement as of May 5, 2008
The Concert held for Our Hiv Scholarship Fund, May 1,2,3,and 4th, 2008 at the Lake George Forum was the greatest failure in my 40 years in the nite club, restaurant, tavern, and concert promotion business! No one showed up. On Thursday May1st., 4 (four) people paid to see Bobby Dick and the Sundowners play. That was it except for band family and/or band set up people who do not ever pay. Friday nite it was 32 degrees outside and almost that cold inside. Only 6 (six) people showed up at the door to pay. I was now depressed. Saturday was a total disaster, only 3 (three) paid customers, and upstates channel 8 to witness the concert failure! Sundays Battle Of The Bands Drew 19 high school students and 4 adults. The families even paid! The price was dropped to $15.00 for students in the end but only 19 (nineteen) young people paid. Please be advised that this was a privately funded concert. The Lake George Forum received $5000.00 Deposit, which was non -refundable and also received a $2,000,000.00 insurance policy against any problems. The insurance policy was $1500.00 for the 4 days. The advertising came to $3000.00, and car expenses for 6 months came to $4000.00 with no charge for depreciation. The equipment rental was only $150.00. Drome Sounds donated the backline speakers and Sound Control DJ service donated their time with the Wingate Hotel donating the rooms for the DJ service. There was no payroll at all! Every one involved worked for FREE! The bands worked for Free! All the bands played their hearts out. Three Bands refused to play for an empty room. I totally understood this. We had no customers at all. The Forum holds 3500 people, we had no one. The Forum was to receive 20% of the cover charge, but of course that was now a joke. I, Michael Cee paid all the bills up front on my charge cards, and have a $14000.00 cash loss including 12000 miles in gas,and 12 meetings. We took in $600.00 door charge, thus if we just use simple math, that would be a $13400.00 loss. I am self imployed, therefore I did not get even minimum pay. I lost 6 months of my time for something I felt was worth doing. I can not do it again. The sad thing is that I was just trying to make a difference with some new methods, and I failed. I have MS and the strain was too much for me. I fell twice and can not be hanging speakers anymore! We may someday try again but I doubt it! I can not afford these losses at the age of 60 with MS. I guess I will say so-long and good luck to all involved in the fight against hiv-aids. I wish all groups involved in the fight against this terrible virus much luck! This concert Promotion is probably my last. After a dinner for those who were so close to me and this promotion, I will Donate our last $100.00 to Mildred Elley Business School! Good Luck to All. There were NO advance Tickets sold and there was no Advertising Money collected. The entire concert was FINANCED by Mr. Michael Cee and The entire Beer And Wine was operated by Positively 4th Street as a concession. The Lake George Forum supplied nite time security and DJ hotel rooms and cleaning personal. Mr. Mike Cee ran the door and acted as head of security with TMTL band and Mr. Pat Vacc! Again I lost $13,400.00 in cash and can not pay my credit cards thus the true loss is triple with interest. I charged the deposit, the insurance, and the adds. Since I would have to pay these bills out of future monies The simple accounting system comes in to play. It automatically doubles the money because the bill must be paid out of new money. There is also interest and a $2000.00 loan from a friend to pay for personal bills. I shall close now and say that those who were interested in the finances have this accounting. Nothing went unpaid except Mike Cee. All Bands Also Donated their TIME. We are now out of the charity business. In the real world, there is no donations for businesses trying to make a difference! Sincerely MIKE CEE
